I didn’t actually know that I needed a squid hat until I saw these pictures from mikest. Unfortunately, I now need such a hat quite desperately — they have built in mittens! They look to be available through Etsy soon-ish and the manufacturer is willing to take orders.

There is just something about sheets of newspaper that requires a girl to make a hat. There are a few options, of course: we’ve all had the triangular hat that looks vaguely like a pirates, and a few of us have sported dunces’ caps. But it’s nice to have something a little more festive in our wardrobes.
