Interview: Loni & Love to Love You

Loni sells some amazing clothes — and she does it with vintage and reclaimed materials. She agreed to answer our questions about her work.
1. What type of wearable art do you make?
I make clothes, mainly women’s clothes including skirts, dresses and tops, but also some clothes for little girls as well as men’s t-shirts.
2. How many of a kind do you make? Why?
I usually make one of a kind items, though sometimes I will make a few of a kind. I myself like clothes that are unique and do not look like they are mass produced. So I like to make pieces that are special and to know that they are being bought by someone who appreciates the uniqueness of the piece. Love To Love You is made for those wants to show off their own personal style instead of just following a trend. Also, it is more fun and challenging to constantly create one of a kind pieces, otherwise I would feel like a one-woman assembly line.
3. Do you wear your own creations? Which is your favorite?
Yes, I wear my own creations. I only create clothing that I would wear so I usually want to keep everything I make, but I’m learning to let go. Wearing my creations is also a great way to advertise. I have a few favorites that I could not let go of, mostly dresses. I think my absolute favorite is a dress I made out of super bright vintage geometric and floral materials. It is fitted on top with a full circle skirt and a partially open back. It’s for days when I feel like standing out in a crowd.
4. Where can we find your work?
You can find me in the wonderful world of Etsy at www.lovetoloveyou.etsy.com.
